Athlete of the Week

The Athletic Department would like to recognize the following students for their outstanding efforts during the last week of practice and competition. It is my privilege to also recognize our Athlete of the Week as Kruz McCusker!

Athlete of the Week
Varsity Baseball
Kruz McCusker
Kruz, a junior, played well in the two games we had last week. He made it on base safely during 3 of his 6 plate appearances. Kruz had 2 hits during this span and surrendered no strike-outs at the plate. While it includes the entire season, it is worth noting that he has only struck out twice the entire season. During last week's games Kruz pitched well at Williamson, striking out 3 and also assisted in a 6-4-3 double play. Kruz's leadership showed as he was nominated a temporary captain in the absence of one of the team's senior captains on Saturday.

Nominations from Coaches

Varsity Softball

Mariah Hallabuk

As a freshman, Mariah has started in every game and has played primarily shortstop.  She gives everything she has at practice and at games.  She hit her very first homerun on the first pitch with Sugar Valley.  Her batting average is a 375 from this past week and a 361 overall,  Slugging is 750.  She had 3 hits and 2 runs this past week.  Mariah is very coachable and is willing to work hard to get better.  Her fielding was even greater than her homerun.  She had 12 total chances defensively with 7 assists and 3 put outs with a fielding percentage of 833.

JH Boys Soccer
Justin Heminghaus
Consistently has improved at the keeper position in his first season of soccer and at the keeper position.  Very coachable athlete, willing to learn, and puts in 100% each and every game, and at practice.  Has made several incredible saves during the course of the season on shots that I thought were sure goals for the opposition.  Keep it up Justin!  Well done!
JH Girls Soccer
Grace Zelewicz
Grace showed great skill in an away game versus Benton. She created several chances on goal. Grace has been an integral part of our team so far this season.

Congratulations to all and keep it up!
