Athlete of the Week 2-10

The Athletic Department would like to recognize the following students for their outstanding efforts during the last week of practice and competition. It is my privilege to also recognize our Athlete of the Week as Wyatt Bagley!

Athlete of the Week

JH Wrestling
Wyatt Bagley

Wyatt posted two wins for the team while competing in the Mid - Penn Dual Championships. One of Wyatt's wins came from a tough opponent from Benton, who Wyatt lost to only a few days prior. Wyatt continues to improve as his JH career comes to an end, and he will be a great addition to the varsity team in the future.

Nominations from Coaches

Boys Varsity Basketball

Maddox Bahr

Maddox led us with 18 points on Senior Night when we faced Millville.  He added six more at Northwest and totaled 24 for the week.  Maddox's defense has picked up and he's doing a nice job helping to run our offense as well.

Girls Varsity Basketball

August Harney

While her older sister Stella may have stole the show against Millville with a 21 pt., 10 rebound double double. It was August who proved crucial in the team's huge win over Millville last week. August spent the night guarding one of the areas best scorers in Larissa Evans (19.3 ppg) and held her to 11 pts. August stole the ball from Larissa with 1:45 left in the game, and turned that steal into a 3 pointer just seconds later to push the Griffin lead to 5 points. This would be the last bucket of the game as August's 5 point, 6 rebound defensive clinic proved to be crucial to the game's outcome.

Varsity Wrestling

Kruz McCusker,

Kruz was 1-0 last week and is currently  23-7 on the 22-23 season. Kruz is steadily one of our best wrestlers week-in-and-week-out. The Junior 127-pounder is currently ranked in the NE region and is poised to make his push deep into the postseason. Not only is Kruz stellar on the mat, but he is always a reliable teammate. He has not missed a single practice all year, he is always on time, and always present for extra workouts. Kruz is a leader for our Griffin Wrestling team.

Cheerleading
Amber Eberlin
Amber has stepped up and lead the team when needed the last few weeks and is willing to do whatever is asked of her. She is a powerhouse base that continues to support the flyers and her team.

JH Basketball
Lucas King
Lucas had a total of 25 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 14 steals. In the Muncy game, Lucas was the high scorer with 11 points.  The Northwest game Lucas had his first double double.  He had 14 points and 10 steals.  Lucas in overtime with 4.8 seconds left went to the line with a score of 39-39.  He sunk the first shot putting the griffin’s ahead by one.  This was a game changing foul shot that helped secure the win.  Lucas gives everything he has on the court whether in practice or a game.  Congratulations Lucas!
