Athlete of the week

The Athletic Department would like to recognize the following students for their outstanding efforts during the last week of practice and competition. It is my privilege to also recognize our Athlete of the Week as Justin Hemighaus!
Athlete of the Week
JH Boys Basketball
 Justin Hemighaus
Justin had the first double double for the 8th grade team this weekend in the tournament.  10 points and 13 rebounds against Towanda.  This first week he has been able to pull down a total of 55 rebounds for the Griffins.  He put 40 points on the board this week.  He has been giving everything he has got and trying to become the aggressive post player the coaches know he can be.  Congratulations on some amazing stats for the first week of games.

Nominations from Coaches

Boys Varsity Basketball

Riley King

Riley continues to show great leadership for our team.  This week, he had 32 points in two games.  He just completed an incredible three-game stretch where he had 20 steals in three games.  He also had six assists on Saturday against Benton.

Girls Varsity Basketball
Stella Harney
During the Christmas tournament Stella had 16 out of our total of 30 points and had a double double with 12 rebounds. Stella scored 7 against Benton and is our lone senior on the team and provides a ton of leadership.

Varsity Wrestling
Rocky Finnegan
Rocky collected 5 wins and 2 losses this past week. Rocky won two matches by fall, one by technical fall, and 2 by decision. Rocky's 2 losses came from quality opponents including: returning state runner-up Wentzel and state ranked Williams of West Scranton. Rocky currently has a record of 14-4 this year at 121 pounds.

JH Wrestling
Carter Lambert
Carter wrestled very tough  against Sugar Valley. He ended up winning with a score of 15-6. Carter has been a hard worker during practices and he continues to improve.

Congratulations to all and keep it up!
